Key Qualifications:
- Current certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
- Experience working in a school setting or with pediatric populations preferred
- Knowledge of IEP process and documentation
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Flexibility and adaptability to work within various classroom environments
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other school staff
- Active state licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure as a COTA in Georgia
Primary Responsibilities:
- Implement individualized occupational therapy interventions as directed by the supervising occupational therapist
- Support students’ fine motor, adaptive, sensory, and self-care skill development
- Assist in the collection of data and monitor student progress toward IEP goals
- Document session activities and maintain accurate records as required by the school and governing agencies
- Participate in team meetings to review student progress and recommend modifications
- Engage in both group and one-on-one sessions to maximize student potential
- Provide education and resources to teachers and caregivers to generalize therapy strategies
