School-Based Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) | Bristol, Connecticut
Step into an enriching school-based role fostering student growth as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) or Occupational Therapist (OT), working district-wide with students from Pre-K through 12th grade. This full-time, contract opportunity begins August 27, 2026, covering an FMLA leave for approximately 12 weeks—with strong potential for extension based on district needs.
Your expertise will be valued across the district as you deliver occupational therapy support to learners with a range of needs and abilities. COTAs will collaborate closely under OT supervision, while OTs will take on a lead clinical role with multidisciplinary teams. The schedule will span 7–7.5 hours per day, finalized prior to the assignment’s start.
Qualifications & Experience Desired:
- Active Connecticut licensure/certification as a COTA (CT DPH License, NBCOT Exam) or Occupational Therapist
- Prior experience in a school-based setting highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations, including Pre-K through high school
- Reliable transportation for travel between sites within the district
- Flexibility and genuine commitment to a temporary assignment, understanding potential for extension
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement individualized occupational therapy plans and interventions within educational settings
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to optimize student participation and independence
- Document services and student progress in accordance with school and state standards
- Work collaboratively as part of a broader therapy and special education team
- Serve schools in a district-wide capacity, supporting students across a range of ages and diagnoses
