School-Based Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) | New Britain, Connecticut

This full-time, district-wide contract opportunity will have you supporting students from Pre-K through 12th grade, providing essential occupational therapy services under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist. As you cover an FMLA leave, there’s potential for this approximately 12-week role to extend. Your expertise in school-based therapy will ensure students reach their goals, collaborate effectively with education teams, and receive top-quality care.
Your day will generally span 7 to 7.5 hours (final schedules are being finalized), starting August 27, 2026, the first day of school. Reliable transportation is needed, as this role involves working at multiple sites.
Qualifications:
- Current COTA certification and CT DPH license, with NBCOT exam passed
- Preferred: prior school-based occupational therapy assistant experience
- Comfort and competence working with children from preschoolers to high school seniors
- Strong documentation skills and commitment to tracking student progress
- Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and adapt to a district-wide caseload
- Reliable transportation to multiple campus locations
Key Responsibilities:
- Support implementation of occupational therapy treatment plans created by the supervising OT
- Provide direct therapy to children across a range of ages and disability categories
- Document session details, student progress, and maintain accurate records
- Communicate with teachers, families, and related service providers to advance student goals
- Help adapt classroom activities and materials as needed
