School-Based Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) | Torrington, Connecticut
Step into a rewarding school-based role supporting students from Pre-K through 12th grade as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in a vibrant educational community. In this contract position, you’ll help bridge an important gap, providing coverage district-wide while an FMLA leave is covered, with the possibility of an extension.
You’ll collaborate with a dedicated team of professionals and make a direct impact on student success, helping implement individualized treatment plans, tracking and reporting progress, and adapting interventions that address a variety of needs and age groups. This full-time position follows the regular school day schedule (approximately 7–7.5 hours daily, pending final confirmation), beginning August 27, 2026, for around 12 weeks.
Qualifications and Experience Sought:
- Active COTA license/certification (CT DPH License and exam passage required)
- Previous experience in a school setting highly preferred
- Ability to work effectively with students spanning Pre-K to 12th grade
- Familiarity with diverse disability populations a plus
- Reliable transportation is essential for district-wide assignments
- Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver occupational therapy services as outlined by district Occupational Therapists
- Execute treatment interventions and accommodations within the school environment
- Support student goals through direct intervention and adaptability
- Maintain thorough records of student progress
- Collaborate with school staff, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Adjust to varying daily assignments across the district
