School Occupational Therapist | Astoria, New York

This contract role offers the chance to work with a diverse elementary population as well as a smaller high school caseload, making a true difference in students’ daily lives.
You’ll manage two full-time elementary caseloads and one part-time high school group, focusing on 1:1 OT sessions. With a total of 55 sessions per week, you’ll work closely with students ages 5–14 who have a range of disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, cerebral palsy, and other genetic conditions. Your expertise will support academic engagement, functional skills, and the overall well-being of each student.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in New York
- Previous experience or strong interest in working with school-aged children, particularly those with disabilities
- Familiarity with individualized education program (IEP) processes and documentation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication, organization, and relationship-building skills
Responsibilities:
- Conduct 1:1 occupational therapy sessions with students
- Develop and implement individualized therapy plans based on IEP goals
- Collaborate with educators, paraprofessionals, and families to maximize student success
- Document progress and maintain accurate session records
- Adapt therapeutic strategies to meet a variety of physical, cognitive, and sensory needs
