School Occupational Therapist | Brooklyn, New York
Make a meaningful impact by providing essential occupational therapy support to students with disabilities in an engaging and supportive educational setting. This contract opportunity spans the entire upcoming school year, working near Brooklyn, NY with a diverse range of student needs.
You’ll split your time between two elementary caseloads (full-time) and a part-time high school caseload, delivering 1:1 OT services. Over the week, you’ll conduct 55 therapy sessions with students aged 5–14, whose diagnoses include autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and other genetic conditions.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid OT licensure for New York
- Experience providing occupational therapy in school settings preferred
- Familiarity with ASD, Down Syndrome, CP, and diverse learning needs
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple caseloads
- Compassionate approach to delivering 1:1 therapy
- Ability to effectively collaborate with teachers, staff, and families
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 occupational therapy sessions according to student IEP requirements
- Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to individual needs
- Maintain thorough documentation of all therapy activities and progress
- Collaborate with educators and other service providers to ensure optimal student support
- Support students in achieving functional goals for academic and daily life activities
- Adapt interventions and strategies to a variety of learning and physical abilities
