Step into an impactful contract role serving the needs of students across a vibrant school district near Des Plaines, IL. As an Occupational Therapist in this itinerant position, you’ll work with students from Pre-K through transition age (up to 22) across multiple elementary, middle, and high schools. With full-time hours (35–37.5 per week) and daily variety, you’ll collaborate with dedicated educators, help students access the curriculum, and contribute to their confidence and independence.
In this on-site-only opportunity, you will join a supportive team focused on excellence and student growth. Assignments will vary based on district needs and school schedules, offering both professional challenges and the chance to make meaningful connections.
Qualifications & Required Experience:
- Valid occupational therapy license from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
- Active educator license issued by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE)
- Previous school-based experience is highly desirable
- Experience supporting children from Pre-K through age 22, including those with diverse abilities
- Ability to effectively manage and adapt to an itinerant caseload across multiple school sites
- Completion of fingerprinting/background checks required prior to start
Core Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ functional abilities to determine needs and develop individualized treatment plans
- Provide direct occupational therapy services according to students’ IEP goals
- Collaborate with faculty, families, and multidisciplinary teams to support student achievement
- Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with district, state, and federal regulations
- Adapt activities and environments to improve students’ participation in educational settings
- Travel between assigned school locations as needed
