Occupational Therapist School Setting in Flushing, NY
Make a meaningful difference in students’ lives throughout the full 2026-2027 school year. This contract opportunity offers the chance to deliver skilled occupational therapy to children and adolescents ages 5-14, primarily at the elementary level, with one part-time high school caseload. You'll provide 1:1 OT sessions—approximately 55 each week—working with students who have a variety of abilities, including those with autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and other genetic disorders.
Ideal Background & Skills:
- Valid Occupational Therapy license and registration in New York
- School-based OT experience strongly preferred
- Comfort working 1:1 and adapting therapy to individualized needs
- Familiarity with supporting children with ASD, Down Syndrome, CP, and similar diagnoses
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Organizational savvy to manage caseloads and document services effectively
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct OT services to assigned students in 1:1 settings, following IEP goals
- Assess student needs and develop evidence-based intervention plans
- Maintain accurate records of therapy sessions and progress updates
- Partner with teachers, staff, and families to support student participation and achievement
- Attend IEP meetings and contribute recommendations as needed
- Uphold confidentiality and compliance with school and legal requirements
