Occupational Therapist School Setting - Metairie, LA

Make a meaningful impact serving students from PreK through 8th grade, providing occupational therapy services in a school-based environment. This is an onsite, full-time contract opportunity where you'll collaborate closely with a Physical Therapist and Adapted Physical Education specialist in a shared office space. You'll also benefit from the support of a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) available once a week. This setting offers a rewarding chance to work with diverse learners while advancing your professional expertise in a collaborative, educational setting.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active and current Occupational Therapy licensure is required.
- Previous experience delivering OT services within a school setting strongly preferred.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including PT, COTA, and APE professionals.
- Strong assessment, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with PreK-8th grade students, adapting interventions as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct occupational therapy services to students, supporting their educational and developmental goals.
- Assess students’ needs, develop tailored treatment plans, and document progress in compliance with school and state guidelines.
- Consult with teachers, staff, and families to help integrate OT strategies within classroom and home environments.
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to team discussions regarding student progress and intervention strategies.
- Share office resources and collaborate with PT & APE staff to maximize student outcomes.
- Oversee and coordinate with the onsite COTA to ensure consistency and quality in service delivery.
