School Occupational Therapist - Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Step into a meaningful role supporting a young learner’s growth and independence through your skills in occupational therapy. This unique contract opportunity is ideal for a dedicated OT seeking a flexible and incredibly part-time position. In this role, you’ll work with a kindergarten student who is nonverbal, uses an AAC device, and is on the autism spectrum with significant developmental delays. Your expertise will help shape their school experience, foster communication, and provide tools for emotional and sensory regulation.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Occupational Therapist (OT) licensure in Wisconsin
- Prior experience in school settings or with pediatric populations preferred
- Comfort and competence working with nonverbal children and those using AAC devices
- Familiarity supporting students on the autism spectrum, especially those with behavioral and self-harm concerns
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset for working with support teams and families
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized OT services to a kindergarten student, up to 45 minutes per week
- Develop and implement strategies tailored to sensory, communication, and self-regulation needs
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to incorporate OT recommendations into daily routines
- Observe, assess, and document progress toward IEP goals
- Advise staff and caregivers on adaptive equipment and strategies to promote participation and engagement
