Occupational Therapist School Setting in New Orleans, LA
Make a positive impact supporting students as a contract Occupational Therapist with a focus on school-based services in the vibrant New Orleans area. This full-time opportunity offers the chance to work with a PreK-8th grade caseload within a collaborative educational environment, including allied professionals like a PT, an Adaptive Physical Education instructor, and support from a COTA one day per week. Your role will be essential in helping students achieve their fullest potential through hands-on, onsite care during the academic school year.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Occupational Therapy (OT) license
- Previous experience in school-based OT strongly preferred
- Ability to work effectively with PreK-8th grade students
- Skilled in evaluating, planning, and implementing appropriate therapy interventions
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills within an interdisciplinary team
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct occupational therapy services to students onsite at the academy
- Assess student needs and develop individualized intervention plans
- Collaborate with educators, parents, and support staff to support student development
- Maintain accurate therapy notes and participate in IEP meetings as needed
- Share office space comfortably with PT and Adaptive PE colleagues
- Utilize and guide assistance from a COTA assigned one day per week
