In this role, you’ll work collaboratively with educators and families to provide tailored OT services within the school environment, helping students reach their full potential academically and functionally.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
- Current OT license valid for Connecticut (or eligibility to obtain)
- Previous experience in a school-based setting highly desired
- Strong understanding of IEPs and special education processes
- Ability to adapt interventions for diverse student needs, including sensory, fine/gross motor, and self-regulation skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective consultation with staff and families
- Organizational skills to manage caseload and documentation efficiently
Responsibilities Include:
- Conduct assessments to identify students’ OT needs and develop appropriate intervention plans
- Deliver direct and consultative occupational therapy services as outlined in student IEPs
- Collaborate regularly with teachers, special education staff, and caregivers
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for assessments, progress notes, and service logs
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute expertise for goal development
- Support implementation of evidence-based strategies and classroom modifications
- Provide training and resources to school staff on OT best practices
