Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Occupational Therapist (OT) license for the state of South Dakota (or eligibility to obtain)
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
- Previous experience with pediatric or school-based populations strongly preferred
- Familiarity with IEPs, goal-writing, documentation, and progress monitoring
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and adapt to diverse student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments, screenings, and evaluations to identify students’ motor and functional needs in the educational setting
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with educational goals
- Collaborate actively with special education and general education staff to integrate therapies into classroom activities
- Participate in IEP meetings, contribute to goal setting, and provide input to support student success
- Maintain accurate records and progress notes in accordance with school and state protocols
- Offer consultation and resources to families and teachers for continued development
- Stay current with best practices in occupational therapy and participate in professional development as needed
