School Occupational Therapist | Shorewood, Illinois
Step into a rewarding school-based opportunity supporting students' growth and independence during an Occupational Therapy maternity leave assignment. This contract position, located in an engaging educational setting near Shorewood, IL, runs from January through May and is an excellent fit for professionals passionate about making a difference in students’ lives.
You’ll work with a diverse caseload of approximately 45 students—20 of whom are on a consultative schedule—across ID/Autism programs, totaling around 12 hours per week (695 minutes). This collaborative role offers the chance to implement meaningful therapy strategies within a supportive, multidisciplinary team.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid OT licensure for the state of Illinois
- Prior experience in school settings, especially with ID/Autism populations
- Knowledge of best practices for consultative and direct services
- Strong communication and documentation abilities
- Ability to adapt therapy to diverse student needs and learning styles
- Effective time management and organizational skills
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative OT services as per student IEPs
- Design and implement intervention strategies tailored to students’ goals
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and families
- Complete assessments, maintain accurate documentation, and contribute to IEP meetings
