School Occupational Therapist | Spring Lake, Michigan
Make a difference each day by empowering students with unique strengths and needs. This contract Occupational Therapy opportunity offers a dynamic school-based setting supporting preschool through 8th grade learners within a friendly and collaborative educational network.
You’ll provide targeted OT services across multiple classrooms, working primarily with students who have moderate cognitive impairments or Autism Spectrum Disorder. With a caseload of approximately 49 students—fluctuating slightly during summer—you’ll serve both resource room participants and a small Early Childhood Special Education population.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- Current OT licensure and credentials suitable for practicing in a school setting
- Experience with pediatric OT, ideally in classroom or special education environments
- Familiarity with supporting students with cognitive impairments and Autism is a plus
- Strong documentation skills; comfortable using digital systems (training provided)
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with a multidisciplinary team
- Adaptable, compassionate, and organized approach to student support
Your Daily Responsibilities:
- Deliver OT assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide services reflecting IEP goals
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to facilitate functional student outcomes
- Document progress and complete Medicaid billing through EdPlan (orientation and ongoing assistance provided)
- Rotate between classrooms and sites as needed; travel between two locations with mileage reimbursement
- Support inclusive learning environments and resource rooms, occasionally working with ECSE students
The schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 3:45 PM, ensuring consistent interaction with students and staff. You'll receive comprehensive mileage reimbursement for travel between assignment locations, easing inter-site transitions.
