Step into a meaningful role supporting students as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) on a full-time contract basis serving schools in the Aurora, IL area. This position is strictly on-site, with itinerant assignments across a range of school levels—from Pre-K through transition age (up to 22 years old). The workweek runs between 35 and 37.5 hours, with exact daily hours depending on the specific schools assigned, which may include elementary, middle, or high school campuses.
Qualifications:
- Current clinical license from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
- Active educator license from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE)
- Strong preference for candidates with prior school-based COTA experience
- Must complete required fingerprint background check prior to start
- Ability to travel between multiple school sites as a part of a dynamic, district-wide team
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct occupational therapy support under the supervision of licensed occupational therapists
- Serve diverse student populations, adapting strategies for multiple age groups and abilities, including early childhood through transition-aged young adults
- Implement individualized education program (IEP) goals and document progress
- Collaborate closely with educators, therapists, and school support staff
- Participate actively in team meetings, parent communications, and ongoing professional development
- Maintain all records in accordance with school, state, and federal guidelines
