We are seeking a dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) for a school-based opportunity in Irvine, CA. This is a great opportunity for a COTA who enjoys working with children and helping students develop the functional skills needed to succeed in the classroom and school environment.
Responsibilities
Provide occupational therapy interventions to students under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
Implement established treatment plans and IEP-related OT goals.
Support students with fine-motor, visual-motor, sensory-processing, handwriting, self-care, and functional school skills.
Collect data and document student progress.
Assist with implementing strategies and accommodations within the classroom.
Collaborate with the supervising OT, teachers, special education staff, families, and other related-service professionals.
Requirements
Current California Occupational Therapy Assistant license through the California Board of Occupational Therapy.
Graduate of an approved Occupational Therapy Assistant program with required fieldwork.
Current NBCOT certification if using the COTA designation; California requires someone using the COTA title to be both state-licensed and currently NBCOT-certified.
Ability to meet applicable school background check/fingerprinting requirements.
Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
Previous pediatric or school-based experience preferred.
California requires OTAs to practice under appropriate OT supervision. The supervising OT remains responsible for the OT services and determines which interventions may be delegated to the assistant.
