Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Valid COTA certification and current state licensure required
- At least one year of direct experience in a school-based setting
- Strong communication skills, able to engage effectively with students, educators, and families
- Proactive, adaptable, and adept at managing varied caseloads and priorities
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely under the supervision of Occupational Therapists to deliver therapy sessions tailored to students’ individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Support students in developing skills for academic participation as well as daily living
- Document student progress and maintain accurate records according to school and legal guidelines
- Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and families to promote integration of therapeutic strategies in the classroom
- Assist with screenings, assessments, and data collection to identify students’ therapy needs
- Foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere that empowers students to achieve their goals
