Job Description
A school district in Albuquerque, New Mexico is seeking a qualified Occupational Therapist (OT) for a full‑time, school‑based contract. This position serves K–12 students and focuses on supporting students’ fine motor, sensory, functional, and self‑care skills to promote access to the educational environment. Candidates who are collaborative, student‑focused, and experienced in school‑based therapy services are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Provide occupational therapy services to students in individual and group settings
- Assess student needs related to fine motor development, sensory processing, visual motor integration, and functional performance
- Develop, implement, and monitor therapy goals within IEPs
- Conduct evaluations and re‑evaluations in accordance with district and federal guidelines
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to support student success
- Recommend adaptive equipment, accommodations, and classroom strategies to improve student access and participation
- Maintain accurate documentation, progress reports, and service logs
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
- Support students in achieving greater independence in academic and daily school activities
Qualifications
- Active New Mexico Occupational Therapist license required
- NBCOT certification required
- Ability to pass background checks, fingerprinting, and district clearances
- Licensing and credentialing support may be available for eligible candidates
Education
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field
Experience
- Previous school‑based or pediatric experience preferred
- Experience working with students with developmental, physical, or sensory needs preferred
- New graduates with appropriate licensure are encouraged to apply

- Strong knowledge of occupational therapy practices in educational settings
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Strong organizational and documentation abilities
- Ability to develop individualized treatment plans and interventions

Work Hours
- Monday–Friday
- 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Approximately 37–40 hours per week
