School Occupational Therapist - Apex, North Carolina

Step into a rewarding school-based occupational therapy role supporting diverse students in a dynamic district setting. This contract position is located on the western side of the area, with on-site assignments ranging from elementary through high school, and follows a year-round track. Start date is 30 days from offer, with interviews happening immediately.
Key Requirements:
- Active OT license from the North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy (NCBOT)
- Completed post-graduate OT degree (Master’s degree preferred)
- Minimum of one year professional school-based OT experience after completing both fieldwork placements (mandatory)
- Previous NC school experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency in ECATS, IEPs, and thorough documentation of therapeutic services within a school context
- Solid experience conducting motor screenings and OT evaluations directly tied to educational programming and student success
- Competency using standardized assessments common to school-based OT, including Sensory Processing Measure–2 (SPM-2) and Sensory Profile 2
- In-depth ability to interpret and apply assessment data for educational planning
- Ability to register for an NPI number and with NC Tracks prior to start
- Willingness to complete the required district fingerprinting and background check
What You’ll Do:
- Provide occupational therapy services, evaluations, and screenings for multiple schools (assignment sites determined prior to start)
- Collaborate with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to design and implement IEPs
- Document all services and student progress for compliance and best practices
- Adapt interventions to support students within established state standards and guidelines
- Engage in monthly workload reviews, ensuring manageable caseloads and quality care
This is a full-time contract (37.5 to 40 hours/week), adhering to the district’s workload model with ongoing reassessments.
