Qualifications & Skills
- Current Occupational Therapist license valid in New Mexico
- Previous experience in a school setting or with pediatric populations strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of educational goals and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication skills for working with students, families, and staff
- Ability to assess, plan, and implement therapy programs tailored to individual student needs
- Comfort with documentation and tracking student progress according to school and state requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct occupational therapy services to students as outlined in their IEPs or 504 plans
- Evaluate students’ abilities and develop individualized intervention plans
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other specialists to support classroom adaptations and student success
- Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings
- Educate and support school staff and families on incorporating strategies into daily routines
- Stay current on best practices relevant to pediatric/school-based OT
