Occupational Therapist School Setting - Cary, NC

Make a difference in the lives of students through a dynamic opportunity as a school-based Occupational Therapist in the Cary, NC area. This full-time, on-site contract role offers the chance to shape student outcomes across several schools on the western side of the district, including elementary, middle, and high school settings. Start dates begin 30 days from offer and the school district operates on a year-round track, ensuring ongoing engagement and professional growth.
Candidates must have post-graduate, professional school-based experience (outside of fieldworks and graduate school) and be comfortable working with individualized education plans (IEPs) and ECATS documentation systems. Prior experience in North Carolina schools is highly valuable. You'll find your caseload and workload are thoughtfully managed under a district-wide workload model, reassessed monthly for fair balance and effectiveness.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid Occupational Therapist license through the North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy (NCBOT)
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy preferred
- Demonstrated school-based OT experience, with post-grad field experience required
- Proficiency in administering and interpreting the Sensory Processing Measure–2 (SPM-2) and Sensory Profile 2
- Skilled in motor screenings, OT assessments, and their educational implications
- Familiarity with ECATS and IEP implementation/documentation
- Strong ability to collaborate as part of multidisciplinary school teams
- Required to obtain NPI number, register with NC Tracks, and complete DCDEE fingerprinting/background checks
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough evaluations and deliver occupational therapy services tailored to individual student needs
- Document and report on student progress in compliance with district and state standards
- Collaborate with educators and families to support student goals in educational environments
- Participate in ongoing reassessment of caseload and workload
