Job Description
Sunbelt Staffing is partnering with a school district in the Commerce City, Colorado area to hire a skilled Occupational Therapist (OT) for a full-time contract position. This role offers the opportunity to support students across a K-12 setting by helping them develop the motor, sensory, and functional skills necessary for success in the classroom. The district is seeking a collaborative professional who is committed to fostering student independence and educational achievement.
Responsibilities
- Conduct occupational therapy evaluations and assessments for students with identified needs
- Develop and implement therapy plans that align with IEP goals and educational objectives
- Provide direct occupational therapy services in individual and group settings
- Consult with teachers, parents, and support staff regarding student accommodations and interventions
- Recommend adaptive equipment, environmental modifications, and assistive technology when appropriate
- Monitor student progress and prepare required reports and documentation
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to the special education process
Skills
- Strong understanding of pediatric occupational therapy principles
- Ability to assess fine motor, visual motor, sensory, and self-help skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt treatment approaches to meet individual student needs
Qualifications
- Active Colorado Occupational Therapist license
- Eligibility for or possession of a Colorado Department of Education Special Services Provider License preferred
- Knowledge of IDEA regulations and IEP processes
- Experience with school-based service delivery models is a plus
Education
- Master’s degree or higher in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution
- NBCOT certification required
Experience
- Previous experience working with pediatric populations preferred
- School-based experience is beneficial but not required
- New graduates with relevant clinical fieldwork experience are encouraged to apply
