Occupational Therapist School Setting - Des Plaines, IL
Make an impact supporting K-8 students by providing expert occupational therapy services across multiple campuses. This part-time contract opportunity is ideal for an experienced Occupational Therapist seeking flexibility and a rewarding environment focused on student growth and success. The role will serve students at campuses in North Chicago and Waukegan, requiring approximately 20 hours per week, conveniently spread over two or three days as desired.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy or a closely related field from an accredited institution
- Valid state licensure for Occupational Therapy and current registration with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
- Minimum of three years providing occupational therapy services in a school setting
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with educators, staff, and families
Responsibilities:
- Deliver evidence-based occupational therapy interventions to students in grades K-8
- Assess students’ functional abilities to support educational participation and success
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Conduct regular therapy sessions on-site at two to three assigned campuses in Lake County
- Monitor student progress, maintain thorough documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
- Provide consultation to staff and families on strategies to enhance student independence and engagement
