School Occupational Therapist | Dumfries, Virginia
Embark on a fulfilling contract opportunity providing essential occupational therapy services in a dynamic educational setting. Based near Dumfries, VA and just 45 minutes south of Washington, DC, this part-time role spans the 2026-2027 academic year and offers a unique chance to work with middle school students. With the possibility of supporting an additional elementary caseload, this position is ideal for those who value flexibility and professional growth while making a meaningful difference in students’ lives.
As part of the school-based therapy team, you will deliver both direct and consultative services across two supportive middle schools. Enjoy the benefit of flexible, 20-hour work weeks that can be adjusted to complement other professional commitments. The caseload consists of 25 students: 10 requiring direct intervention, and 15 who benefit from consultative support. Occasional evaluations may arise as the school year evolves.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active Virginia Occupational Therapy license required
- Previous experience in school-based or pediatric OT services preferred
- Commitment to timely credentialing, including initiating VA Dept. of Social Services screening and obtaining a current TB test
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families
- Ability to organize and manage a varied caseload effectively
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct OT interventions tailored to middle school students’ IEP goals
- Offer consultative support for teachers, parents, and staff
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress monitoring
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to student-centered planning
- Perform evaluations when indicated by team or program needs
This role delivers consistent, school-year employment with the support of a collaborative district team. You’ll interview directly with the program director and Lead OT, ensuring a positive onboarding experience.
