School Occupational Therapist - Dumfries, Virginia
Make a meaningful impact in the school community by utilizing your expertise in Occupational Therapy. An established district seeks a contract-based OT to provide both direct and consultative services for the full 2026–2027 academic year. Working across two middle schools, you’ll help students develop the skills they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom.
Schedule is part-time (20 hours per week), and flexible — ideal for supplementing clinical work or balancing personal commitments. Your caseload includes 25 students, with about 10 needing direct intervention and 15 receiving consultative support. While your primary responsibilities will be at two middle schools, there is the possibility of an elementary addition as the year develops. Evaluations may be required as needs arise.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Licensed Occupational Therapist with an active VA OT license
- School-based OT experience preferred, especially working with middle school ages
- Skilled in both individual therapy and consultative collaboration with educators and families
- Strong documentation, time management, and communication abilities
- Comfortable adapting services as needs change across the school year
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver direct therapy and consultative services, focusing on functional student outcomes
- Collaborate with school teams and families to support students’ IEP goals
- Complete required documentation promptly and professionally
- Participate in relevant team meetings and IEP conferences
- Stay current with required credentialing, including an immediate Department of Social Services check and a TB test for Virginia
You’ll work alongside engaged educators and have opportunities to partner closely with the Lead OT and district program director through an engaging interview process.
