School Occupational Therapist - Durham, North Carolina

Step into an engaging, full-time contract role as a school-based Occupational Therapist, supporting students across elementary, middle, and high school levels on the western side of Wake County. You'll collaborate closely with district teams and families, providing essential OT services within a dynamic workload model that’s reassessed monthly to accommodate changing student needs. The district uses a year-round track schedule, with start dates 30 days from acceptance, and interviews for this role are being scheduled immediately.
What You’ll Bring:
- Active Occupational Therapist license from the North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy (NCBOT)
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy (post-graduate OT degree required)
- Post-Fieldwork 2 professional experience in school-based OT (internship and fieldwork experience not considered)
- Expertise in ECATS and IEP development and documentation
- Proficiency administering and interpreting commonly used standardized assessments in a school setting, particularly the Sensory Processing Measure–2 (SPM-2) and Sensory Profile 2
- Confidence in conducting motor screenings, formal evaluations, and integrating findings into the educational context
- Prior experience navigating North Carolina school systems and procedures (preferred)
- Ability to obtain an NPI number and register with NC Tracks before starting
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative OT services according to students’ IEPs
- Conduct assessments to evaluate functional skills and educational needs
- Document services promptly and in compliance with district and state requirements
- Collaborate with educational teams and participate in monthly workload reviews
- Travel between multiple school sites as assigned
