Occupational Therapist School Setting - Durham, NC

Exciting opportunity for a dedicated Occupational Therapist to provide vital services to students in a dynamic K-12 setting in the western region of Wake County. This year-round, on-site contract role offers a full-time schedule, supporting students with a range of OT needs across elementary, middle, and high school levels. Interventions and caseloads are managed through a workload model, reassessed each month to maintain optimal work-life balance.
Successful candidates will possess:
- Active Occupational Therapy license from the North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy (NCBOT)
- Post-graduate degree in OT (Master’s preferred)
- Demonstrated school-based OT experience (NC school experience highly desirable)
- Proficiency documenting services, conducting motor screenings, and OT evaluations tied to educational programs
- Experienced in developing and managing IEPs and utilizing ECATS
- In-depth knowledge of standardized school-based OT assessments, including the Sensory Processing Measure–2 (SPM-2) and Sensory Profile 2
- Skills in interpreting and applying assessment results within the school context
- Ability to register for NPI and NC Tracks, and complete DCDEE fingerprinting and background checks prior to start
Primary responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive occupational therapy services for students as part of a multidisciplinary educational team
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and staff to develop and implement effective IEPs tailored to students' functional needs
- Perform expert assessments and sensory processing evaluations, and document all services in compliance with state and district requirements
- Adapt interventions to support student participation and progress within the classroom environment
