This on-site, full-time position spans schools on the western side of Wake County, with assigned sites including elementary, middle, and high school levels. The district operates on a dynamic workload model that’s routinely reassessed to ensure an engaging and manageable caseload.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid OT license issued by the North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy
- Post-graduate OT degree (Master’s degree preferred)
- Minimum of post-fieldwork II professional experience working as a school-based Occupational Therapist—school-based experience is required; North Carolina school experience is highly preferred
- Proven proficiency in developing, implementing, and documenting IEPs and using ECATS
- Expertise in conducting motor screenings and OT evaluations within school settings
- Familiarity with standardized assessment tools commonly employed for school-based OT, including Sensory Processing Measure–2 (SPM-2) and Sensory Profile 2
- Deep understanding of applying/communicating assessment interpretation in education-based contexts
Responsibilities:
- Deliver occupational therapy services tailored to students’ educational goals
- Administer comprehensive evaluations and interpret findings in relation to academic standards
- Document all services and progress in alignment with IEP requirements utilizing ECATS
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design and implement interventions
- Participate in monthly reassessments of workload and adapt as needed
Additional Details:
- Full-time: 37.5 hours weekly (with potential to reach up to 40 hours)
- Assignment follows the district’s year-round academic track
- Start date is 30 days from offer, with interviews occurring immediately
- All candidates must complete a prescreening prior to presentation and fulfill district-specific background, fingerprinting, and registration requirements
