Make a real impact on student success by providing key support as a contract Occupational Therapist in a dynamic school district near Durham, NC. This is an on-site, full-time role following a year-round track, starting 30 days after offer. Candidates will play an important part in student development across elementary, middle, and high schools, working collaboratively alongside educators and specialized teams. Expect engaging workdays, flexible caseloads under a workload model, and ongoing assessments to ensure well-balanced assignments.
Required Qualifications:
- Active North Carolina OT license (NCBOT)
- Post-graduate OT degree; Master’s preferred
- Demonstrated school-based occupational therapy experience (NC school experience strongly preferred)
- Proficiency in therapy documentation, ECATS, and IEPs
- Familiarity with standardized assessments and conducting OT evaluations and motor screenings
- Required experience with Sensory Processing Measure–2 (SPM-2) and Sensory Profile 2
- Clear understanding of state standards and functional skills as they relate to school settings
- Ability to interpret and apply assessment results in an educational context
- Must complete a Wake CPS background check, DCDEE fingerprinting, and obtain NPI number/NC Tracks registration before start
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative OT services to students based on IEPs
- Conduct screenings, comprehensive evaluations, and interpret results to support student programs
- Collaborate with educational teams to integrate OT strategies within classroom routines and state standards
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in ECATS
- Engage in monthly workload reviews to ensure equitable assignment distribution
