School Occupational Therapist | Las Cruces, New Mexico

Embark on a rewarding opportunity providing occupational therapy services throughout beautiful southern New Mexico. This long-term contract role allows you to make a lasting impact on students of all ages, within a collaborative school-based setting. Candidates based in the broader Las Cruces or El Paso areas are encouraged to apply, as travel between multiple schools is required. You’ll work across a full school year, providing direct intervention and supporting students’ growth and development.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active New Mexico state OT license (NMRLD) and NMPED certification (NMPED certification must be secured prior to start date; those proactive with applications will find the NMPED process moves quickly)
- Open to Occupational Therapists (OTs) as well as experienced Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs)
- Experience working in school settings, with a diverse student population spanning all age groups
- Ability and willingness to supervise COTA(s) as needed
- Comfortable traveling between multiple school locations within the district
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver school-based occupational therapy assessments, interventions, and consultations to students from early childhood through high school
- Collaborate with educational staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Supervise and provide guidance to COTA(s) within the district
- Travel onsite as required to serve students at various locations
- Maintain accurate records in compliance with district and state guidelines
