Make an impact supporting students across southern New Mexico as a dedicated school-based Occupational Therapist (OT) or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). This contract opportunity runs throughout the full academic year, providing essential therapy services to learners of all ages in a region noted for its beauty and proximity to attractions like White Sands National Park and El Paso, TX.
You’ll thrive if you are comfortable traveling between school sites and collaborating with a diverse special education team, ensuring students receive high-quality, individualized interventions. Your expertise and mentorship will help guide and supervise COTAs, fostering professional growth and excellent student outcomes. This is a valued, long-standing client partnership where your skills will truly matter.
Qualifications:
- Active New Mexico OT License (NMRLD) and NMPED certification required by start date
- Open to experienced OTs and COTAs able to work independently in a school setting
- Willingness to supervise COTA(s), offering support and oversight
- Adaptable and organized with ability to commute between several schools
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for a multidisciplinary environment
- Prior school-based experience preferred
Responsibilities:
- Deliver occupational therapy services to students across multiple schools and grade levels
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in cooperation with special education teams
- Supervise COTAs as needed, ensuring high standards of care
- Document progress and communicate effectively with staff and families
- Partner with teachers, administrators, and specialists to maximize student participation in the educational setting
