This contract opportunity for a dedicated Occupational Therapist begins with a comprehensive orientation and extends through the academic year, providing consistent involvement with a range of ages, from early childhood through high school.
You’ll spend one day each week (7.5 hours) working collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team, contributing your expertise to help students access learning and achieve their fullest potential. Flexible scheduling lets you focus on quality of service while balancing your commitments.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Holds a current Illinois State Occupational Therapy license (IDFPR required)
- Experience in school-based or pediatric occupational therapy
- Adaptable and comfortable working with diverse age groups, including early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school students
- Strong communication skills with students, caregivers, and school staff
- Ability to independently manage a varied caseload
- Commitment to professional ethics and standards in therapy
- Previous experience in a school setting is highly valued
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and support students’ fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, and functional abilities within the school environment
- Develop individualized intervention plans in collaboration with educators and parents/guardians
- Document progress, adapt plans, and participate in multidisciplinary meetings
- Provide consultations and trainings to staff regarding occupational therapy strategies
- Contribute to a welcoming, supportive atmosphere for learners of every ability
