Job Description
A school district in Lumberton, North Carolina is seeking a qualified Occupational Therapist (OT) for a full‑time, virtual school‑based contract. This position serves K–12 students and focuses on providing occupational therapy services through a teletherapy platform to support student access to the educational environment. Responsibilities
- Provide virtual occupational therapy services to students in individual and group settings
- Assess student needs related to fine motor skills, sensory processing, visual motor integration, and functional performance
- Develop, implement, and monitor therapy goals within IEPs
- Conduct virtual evaluations and re‑evaluations in compliance with district and federal guidelines
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and related service providers to support student success
- Recommend accommodations, adaptive equipment, and classroom strategies to improve student access
- Maintain accurate documentation, progress reports, and service logs
- Participate in virtual IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
- Utilize teletherapy tools and technology to effectively deliver occupational therapy services
Qualifications
- Active North Carolina Occupational Therapy license required
- NBCOT certification required
- Previous teletherapy or virtual service experience preferred
- Ability to pass background checks and district clearances
- Reliable high‑speed internet and access to appropriate technology required
- Licensing and credentialing support may be available for eligible candidates
Education
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field
Experience
- Previous school‑based or pediatric experience preferred
- Experience providing virtual or teletherapy services strongly preferred
- Experience supporting students with diverse developmental and physical needs preferred
Skills
- Strong knowledge of occupational therapy practices in educational settings
- Proficiency with teletherapy platforms and virtual service delivery
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Strong organizational and documentation abilities
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Commitment to supporting diverse student populations
Work Hours
- Monday–Friday
- School‑day schedule
- Approximately 37–40 hours per week
