Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity working with students in middle school settings near the Washington DC area, just 45 minutes south of the city. This school-based Occupational Therapy role offers the chance to truly focus on student-centered care throughout the academic year.
This position involves providing both direct and consultative OT services across two middle schools, with the possibility of an additional elementary school being added. With a manageable caseload of 25 students—10 requiring direct services and 15 receiving consult support—you’ll have the time and resources to make a meaningful difference. The flexible, part-time structure (20 hours per week, schedule to be determined) makes this an ideal fit for professionals balancing other clinical or personal commitments.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Occupational Therapist license in Virginia required
- Prior experience serving K-12 populations, ideally within a school setting
- Ability to provide both direct therapy and consultative guidance to students, teachers, and families
- Strong communication skills, with a collaborative approach to supporting diverse learners
- Willingness to complete the Virginia Department of Social Services check promptly and provide evidence of a current TB test
Your Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized plans that foster students’ independence and success in the school environment
- Deliver direct OT services and effective consults based on students’ educational needs
- Conduct evaluations as needed throughout the school year, ensuring compliance with district and state standards
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and participate in meetings as required
