School-Based Occupational Therapist (OT)
Position Summary
Sunbelt Staffing is partnering with a Washington, DC school district to bring an Occupational Therapist onto its student support team. This full-time contract position is focused on helping students improve the functional, motor, sensory, and organizational skills that contribute to successful participation at school. The therapist will have the opportunity to collaborate with educators and families while providing individualized services based on each student's needs.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations and interpret assessment results
- Develop therapy goals and intervention plans that complement student IEPs
- Provide direct services to students individually, in small groups, or within classroom environments
- Address fine motor, visual-motor, sensory, and functional skill development
- Consult with teachers regarding classroom strategies and student accommodations
- Recommend adaptive equipment and environmental modifications when appropriate
- Monitor student response to intervention and document progress
- Prepare evaluations, service notes, progress reports, and other required records
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary student planning
Skills & Competencies
- Sound clinical judgment and knowledge of pediatric occupational therapy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to adapt therapeutic techniques to different learning environments
- Effective time management and organization
- Comfortable collaborating with educators and other related service professionals
- Commitment to student-centered care and positive outcomes
Required Qualifications
- Current Occupational Therapist license or authorization to practice in Washington, DC
- NBCOT certification
- Eligibility for applicable DC school-based credentialing
- Ability to meet district onboarding, background, and employment requirements
Education
- Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution
- Completion of required clinical education and professional credentialing
Experience
- Experience working with pediatric populations preferred
- Previous school-based therapy experience is beneficial
- Familiarity with IEPs, classroom accommodations, and special education teams is a plus

Compensation for this position ranges from $23.00 to $58.00. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals. Full details of our healthcare benefits plan can be found here. This posting is open for 60 days after the posting date.
