Make a meaningful difference supporting K-12 students as part of a dedicated special education team. This full-time, onsite contract opportunity in the Special Education District of Lake County offers a collaborative and engaging environment for a skilled Occupational Therapist (OT) or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). The upcoming school year’s schedule will run from late summer 2026 to 2027 (dates tentative), with required new hire orientation from August 12th to August 14th. You’ll work a steady 35 hours per week, making a significant impact on students’ academic and functional success.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Current and active Illinois OT or COTA license (required; please include license information when applying)
- Experience or strong interest in school-based occupational therapy
- Knowledge of best practices for serving K-12 students, including those with special needs
- Flexibility for caseload and grade level assignments (to be determined)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Comfortable working exclusively onsite
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted OT interventions to support students’ IEP goals
- Collaborate effectively with educators, school staff, and families
- Complete required documentation, assessments, and progress reports
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute expertise to student plans
- Adjust interventions as needed to meet individual student needs
- Attend orientation and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities
