School-Based Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) | Full-Time | Columbus Area, OH | 2026-2027 School Year
We are actively seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) for a full-time school-based opportunity in the greater Columbus, Ohio area for the 2026-2027 school year.
This position offers the opportunity to work with a supportive special education team while providing services to students across multiple school locations. The selected candidate will collaborate with Occupational Therapists, educators, and families to help students develop the skills needed for success in the classroom and daily activities.
Position Details
- Full-time position
- 2026-2027 school year
- Approximate schedule: August 2026 through May 2027
- Up to 50-student caseload
- Support across multiple school sites
- Collaborative educational environment
- Consistent school-year schedule
Responsibilities
- Implement occupational therapy treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist
- Provide direct therapy services to students in accordance with IEP goals
- Support fine motor, visual motor, sensory, self-help, and functional skill development
- Collect and document student progress data
- Assist with classroom accommodations and therapeutic strategies
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, families, and support staff
- Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with district requirements
- Participate in team meetings and student progress discussions
Student Population
Students may present with a variety of educational and developmental needs, including:
- Fine motor delays
- Sensory processing challenges
- Developmental disabilities
- Physical disabilities
- Functional and adaptive skill deficits
- Classroom participation and accessibility needs
Qualifications
- Active Ohio Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license
- Ohio Educator Certification
- School-based or pediatric experience preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to travel between assigned school locations as needed
