This contract opportunity is ideal for a skilled Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) interested in supporting K-12 students during the Extended School Year (ESY) program. The assignment spans July 6 through August 13, with services based at West Woods Upper Elementary and a focus on meeting the diverse needs of students from across the district.
Working Monday through Thursday, from 8:00 am to 1:15 pm, you will deliver essential OT support in collaboration with educators and therapists, ensuring continuity of care for students with varying needs. The ideal applicant is comfortable in a school environment and eager to contribute to student growth and independence.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Active COTA certification in Connecticut (required)
- Previous experience in school settings strongly preferred
- Familiarity with providing therapy to K-12 populations
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, support staff, and families
Responsibilities:
- Implement OT treatment plans under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist
- Work directly with students, providing interventions to support functional skills
- Accurately document daily sessions and progress
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to IEP discussions, as needed
- Adapt strategies to meet diverse learning and developmental needs
- Foster a positive and inclusive therapy environment
