Seeking dynamic and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) to make a meaningful impact in local schools for the upcoming academic year! Two contract opportunities are available: one serving an elementary caseload and another working with students across all age groups. These roles begin in August and extend through mid-June, allowing you to support students’ growth and well-being throughout the entire school cycle.
What You'll Bring:
- Active Virginia COTA certification required
- Previous experience in a school-based or pediatric setting strongly preferred
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with multi-disciplinary teams, teachers, and families
- Ability to adapt strategies for diverse needs and varied student populations
- Organizational skills to manage caseload documentation and session planning
- Compassion, patience, and creativity working with children and adolescents
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct occupational therapy services as assigned by supervising Occupational Therapists
- Assist in the assessment of students’ needs using standardized tools and observation
- Support implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) through therapy sessions, accommodations, and adaptive strategies
- Document student performance, progress, and session details accurately and in a timely manner
- Collaborate with educators, service providers, and parents to foster student participation and independence
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive, supportive school climate
