Step into an impactful contract role supporting students' success as a school-based Occupational Therapist. Work onsite across four schools near the Bessemer, AL region, serving a caseload of 50-60 students with varying needs. This assignment runs ASAP through June 10, offering an opportunity to make a difference within a well-established team.
Your expertise will help students thrive by providing both individual and small group OT services, as well as push-in support, all tailored to Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Sessions are typically 30 minutes at varied frequencies—once a week, twice a month, or once a month depending on the IEP.
Key Qualifications:
- Active and current Alabama state Occupational Therapist license/certification (proof of credentials required)
- Experience delivering OT services within a school setting strongly preferred
- Ability to effectively serve diverse student populations and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Flexible, organized, and able to travel among up to four school sites
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct occupational therapy interventions to students based on IEP specifications
- Document services and maintain compliance with school and state regulations
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to maximize students’ functional independence in the educational setting
- Attend and contribute to IEP meetings, assessments, and progress monitoring as needed
- Adapt strategies and activities to address individual sensory, motor, and functional needs
