School Occupational Therapist | Fairport, New York
Make a meaningful impact as a school-based Occupational Therapist in the vicinity of Fairport, NY. This full-time contract opportunity starts in September and offers a chance to support students’ development and success during the 2026–2027 academic year. Your expertise will help create accommodating, engaging, and supportive classroom environments for children and adolescents. The assignment involves working with a yet-to-be-determined caseload across a local network’s schools, with placement finalized prior to your start.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active Occupational Therapist license in New York State (NYS)
- Previous experience in school-based OT or related pediatric settings is highly valued
- Solid understanding of IEPs, student evaluations, and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct OT services to students, supporting motor, sensory, and functional skills
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other professionals to integrate therapies with academic and classroom goals
- Assess students’ functional abilities and create individualized, goal-oriented therapy plans
- Participate in IEP meetings, contribute to team discussions, and document all interventions according to state and district guidelines
- Consult with families and school staff to facilitate carryover and generalization of skills
This is a full-time, five-day-per-week assignment, allowing you to dedicate your creativity and care to local students. The contract is planned for the 2026–2027 academic year, with an option to remain until an internal placement is made.
