School Occupational Therapist - Jamaica, New York
Exciting opportunity available for a dedicated Occupational Therapist seeking a rewarding full-time contract role in a school-based setting. Located near Jamaica, NY and providing services to students across the Bronx, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting young learners and helping them succeed both in and out of the classroom.
As an Occupational Therapist onsite with school-aged children and adolescents (ages 5–21), you’ll work Monday through Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Collaborate with educators, support staff, and families to deliver exceptional care, assess students’ needs, develop personalized intervention plans, and empower students to reach their fullest potential in academic and daily activities.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- Active OT license for New York State
- Experience in school settings strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of IEP process and ability to develop targeted treatment plans
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Compassionate, flexible, and able to adapt to various needs and situations
- Ability to work effectively with children and young adults ages 5–21
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide direct occupational therapy services onsite in accordance with students’ IEPs
- Conduct evaluations and assessments to determine therapy needs and progress
- Document treatment plans, student progress, and collaborate on goal-setting with multidisciplinary teams
- Communicate regularly with families, faculty, and related service providers to promote student success and well-being
