You will provide essential occupational therapy services across two sites: serving elementary-aged students in grades K-6, as well as high school students in grades 9-12. Both locations feature self-contained classrooms tailored for students with substantial cognitive and adaptive needs, presenting unique opportunities to create meaningful impact. Additionally, you will provide supervision to a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), contributing to professional development and maintaining high standards of care.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Occupational Therapist licensure for Arizona (or eligibility)
- Previous experience or strong interest in school-based OT practice
- Comfort collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, staff, and families
- Ability to supervise and mentor support staff, including COTAs
- Familiarity with adaptive strategies and individualized intervention planning
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills
Responsibilities:
- Deliver occupational therapy services for elementary and high school students in self-contained classrooms
- Assess, plan, and implement interventions to promote academic access and life skills for students with cognitive challenges
- Supervise and collaborate with a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
- Coordinate with instructional and special education teams to develop and update IEP goals
- Maintain accurate records and progress notes in compliance with school and district requirements
- Engage in ongoing consultation and support for staff and families
