This full-time role (8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) is well-suited for a dedicated Occupational Therapist with a passion for working in schools and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of students with complex behavioral needs. This contract position takes place in both school and residential settings, supporting children and adolescents who may display adverse behaviors such as aggression, elopement, property destruction, or self-harm. Your expertise will play a vital role in helping students achieve functional success and reach their fullest potential.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Valid Occupational Therapist license in the state of Illinois
- Experience or strong interest in school-based OT practice
- Comfort working with individuals exhibiting challenging behaviors
- Knowledge of therapeutic interventions for self-regulation and sensory needs
- Collaborative spirit for working closely with teachers, aides, and related service providers
- Strong communication and documentation abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group occupational therapy services in accordance with IEP goals
- Assess and monitor student progress and needs, evaluating the effectiveness of interventions
- Develop and implement sensory diets, behavior strategies, and classroom accommodations
- Provide education and training to staff to support student growth
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, contributing expertise and insight
- Maintain compliance with documentation standards for school settings
