Job Description
A school district in Phoenix, Arizona is seeking a qualified Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) for a full‑time, school‑based contract. This position serves K–12 students and supports the delivery of occupational therapy services designed to improve fine motor, sensory, functional, and self‑care skills. Candidates who are student‑focused, collaborative, and passionate about helping students achieve greater independence are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Provide occupational therapy services to students under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT)
- Implement treatment plans and therapeutic interventions established by the supervising OT
- Support students in developing fine motor, visual motor, sensory, self‑care, and functional skills
- Assist with classroom accommodations, adaptive equipment, and therapeutic activities
- Collect data and document student progress toward IEP goals
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary team members
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute information regarding student progress
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with district, state, and federal guidelines
Qualifications
- Active Arizona Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license required
- NBCOT COTA certification required
- Ability to pass background checks, fingerprinting, and district clearances
- Licensing and credentialing support may be available for eligible candidates
Education
- Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
Experience
- Previous school‑based, pediatric, or clinical experience preferred
- Experience supporting students with developmental, sensory, physical, or behavioral disabilities preferred
- New graduates with appropriate licensure are encouraged to apply

- Strong knowledge of occupational therapy interventions and techniques
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Strong organizational and documentation abilities
- Ability to follow treatment plans and adapt strategies as needed
- Commitment to supporting diverse student populations
Work Hours
- Monday–Friday
- 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Approximately 37–40 hours per week
