Job Description
A school district in Rockford, Illinois is seeking a qualified School Social Worker for a full‑time, school‑based contract. This position offers the flexibility to provide services virtually or onsite while supporting K–12 students with social‑emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs. Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling to support student social‑emotional and behavioral needs
- Conduct assessments and contribute to intervention planning and student support services
- Participate in IEP, 504, and multidisciplinary team meetings
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and community agencies
- Support crisis intervention and behavior support planning
- Assist with attendance, engagement, and school‑wide mental health initiatives
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines
- Deliver services effectively through onsite or virtual platforms, based on district needs
Qualifications
- Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Social Work endorsement required
- Ability to pass background checks, fingerprinting, and district clearances
- Previous experience providing virtual services preferred for remote candidates
- Licensing and credentialing support may be available for eligible candidates
Education
- Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited program
Experience
- Previous school‑based social work experience preferred
- Experience supporting students with social‑emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs preferred
- Experience with virtual service delivery or teletherapy is a plus
Skills
- Strong counseling, crisis intervention, and case management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Proficiency with virtual meeting and teletherapy platforms
- Commitment to supporting diverse student populations
Work Hours
- Monday–Friday
- 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Approximately 37–40 hours per week
