School Occupational Therapist - Schaumburg, Illinois
Make a meaningful difference in the lives of intermediate students by bringing your occupational therapy expertise to a supportive school environment for the 2026-2027 academic year. This contract opportunity focuses on grades 3-5 in an intermediate building, where you’ll primarily provide consultative services, along with hands-on direct intervention for fine motor and sensory support for a caseload of approximately 25 students.
Schedule flexibility allows you to choose two full days or spread your hours across more days with shorter shifts, between 8:05 am and 2:45 pm. The assignment runs from early September to mid-June, offering a structured yet adaptable role ideal for skilled school-based OTs seeking a rewarding part-time schedule.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current licensure and credentials as an Occupational Therapist
- Prior experience in school-based OT settings, especially with elementary/intermediate-aged students, is highly valued
- Strong skills in consultative service delivery, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and multidisciplinary teams
- Expertise in providing targeted interventions for fine motor and sensory needs
- Excellent communication abilities for clear documentation and team collaboration
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver occupational therapy consultation and direct services, primarily within one school building
- Assess, plan, and implement interventions tailored to each student’s needs, maintaining compliance with IEP goals
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to support student participation and success in school routines
- Document services and outcomes in accordance with school and professional standards
