School Occupational Therapist | Waterbury, Connecticut
Step into a rewarding school-based Occupational Therapist opportunity, supporting students across Pre-K through 12th grade. This full-time contract assignment, located near Waterbury, CT, offers an excellent environment to make a tangible difference while broadening your experience. The role is designed to cover a 12-week FMLA maternity leave with a high probability of extension; however, the initial contract will reflect only the leave period. Commitment to a maternity leave assignment, with the understanding that an extension is possible but not guaranteed, is essential.
What We’re Looking For:
- Active Connecticut Occupational Therapist (OT) license OR active Connecticut COTA license/certification (CT DPH License & passed NBCOT Exam)
- Previous school-based experience strongly preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively with school teams and adapt to various student needs
- Reliable transportation for district-wide assignments
- Experience with diverse disability populations and working across multiple age groups a plus
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver occupational therapy services to students, supporting IEP goals and promoting student independence
- Collaborate with educators, families, and related service providers to ensure a comprehensive approach to student support
- Conduct assessments, develop and implement therapy plans, and maintain thorough documentation of student progress
- For COTAs: provide services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, following established treatment plans
- Support students district-wide with a variety of physical, developmental, and academic challenges
