Step into a meaningful role working with students in a dynamic educational and residential setting near Waukegan, IL. You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support children and adolescents exhibiting diverse behavioral and emotional challenges. This full-time, onsite position is ideal for dedicated Occupational Therapists skilled in school-based practice, who are prepared to address complex needs in a compassionate and structured environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Occupational Therapy license in Illinois (or eligibility)
- Prior experience in school-based OT preferred; internship or practicum experience considered
- Comfort with adverse, aggressive, and challenging behaviors, including self-harm, property destruction, elopement, and aggression
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with multidisciplinary teams, educators, and families
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to student-centered care
- Ability to work onsite, Monday through Friday, 8am–4pm
Core Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ functional needs, develop individualized intervention plans, and provide direct OT services within IEP goals
- Collaborate closely with special education staff and program leaders to ensure consistent behavioral support and a safe, positive learning environment
- Document and track student progress, participate in IEP meetings, and communicate regularly with caregivers and the educational team
- Offer guidance for implementing sensory strategies, environmental modifications, and behavioral interventions across school and residential settings
