School Occupational Therapist - Waukegan, Illinois

Make an impact as an Occupational Therapist supporting high school students throughout the school year. This contract role offers a meaningful opportunity to work with a caseload of approximately 18 students in grades 9-12 who have complex needs. You'll be based in Vernon Hills, working Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 3:00pm, with guaranteed 7.5-hour days that include your lunch break. Compensation for this role starts at $43 per hour and is commensurate with experience.
Qualifications:
- Current Illinois Occupational Therapist license (or eligibility to obtain)
- Background in school-based OT services, especially at the high school level, is strongly preferred
- Experience working with students who have complex or intensive needs
- Solid knowledge of IEP process, progress monitoring, and related documentation
- Excellent communication skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver occupational therapy services to high school students (grades 9-12), addressing motor, sensory, cognitive, and adaptive functioning skills
- Work collaboratively with teachers and staff to develop and implement individualized intervention plans
- Participate in IEP meetings, provide input on goals, and assist with relevant paperwork
- Track student progress, maintain documentation, and adjust therapy plans as needed
- Offer professional guidance and training for school personnel related to occupational therapy strategies and supports
