School Occupational Therapist - Waukegan, Illinois
Make a difference in early childhood education by bringing your expertise as an Occupational Therapist into a supportive and collaborative school environment for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year. This part-time contract role—either 2 or 3 days per week—will offer you the opportunity to focus on early learners within a highly regarded preschool consortium.
Your primary location will be an Early Childhood setting where you’ll have the unique chance to promote student growth, support developmental milestones, and partner with both educators and families to craft individualized occupational therapy strategies. Travel within the Winnetka Preschool Consortium will be required as you help ensure students across locations receive comprehensive support.
Qualifications:
- Current certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
- Valid Occupational Therapy license for the state of Illinois
- Experience in school-based practice, ideally with early childhood and special education populations
- Ability to travel within the consortium’s preschool facilities as needed
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment for all students
Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, and implement effective occupational therapy interventions for preschool-aged students in group and individual sessions
- Collaborate with educators, families, and support staff to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Maintain all necessary documentation and ensure compliance with federal, state, and district guidelines
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and staff development opportunities
- Adapt intervention plans to meet specific student needs in diverse early childhood settings
